Comedian and activist Eric Omondi has stirred the political waters with his latest claims that the alleged fallout between President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is a calculated distraction to divert public attention from the Finance Bill.

In his address, Omondi criticized the government’s tactics, suggesting that the administration is using internal political dramas to overshadow public participation in the legislative process.

He pointed to various recent events, including leadership wrangles within the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), as part of this broader strategy.

“The government has been very smart to get our attention away from the finance bill,” Omondi stated.

“All these UDA wrangles, Gachagua fighting Rais, Limuru 3, ooh cjui Sakaja amefanya nini.” He mentioned that those are distractions designed to keep us from focusing on the real issue.

His remarks come at a critical time when the Finance Bill, which includes several tax proposals, is expected to have a significant impact on the cost of living, is under intense public scrutiny.

If the bill is passed, would lead to a more economic hardships worse than what Kenyans are experiencing now.

“The purpose of the protest was to remind Kenyans that this Finance Bill will suffocate you, depress you, and basically make life difficult,” Omondi said.

He pointed out the need for people to stay focused on what’s truly important and not get drawn by these made up political dramas.

He also expressed his satisfaction mentioning the success of the protests such increased media coverage and public discourse around the bill.

“So right now, nimeona kwa gazeti niliona Kwa Tv Citizen. Kenyans are back on track,” he said, acknowledging the growing awareness and resistance against the proposed legislation.

To address the issue about paying people to protest he said, “What I did, I didn’t pay anyone, I just bought those mbogas nkasema, ‘mboga gunia ni pesa ngapi’ nkanunua mboga zao.”

“Nikasema, ‘hizi mboga zenu naomba mnisaidie tupeleke mahali nshanunua mnimwagie pale parliament.'”

Eric Omondi’s call to remain vigilant and focused has resonated with many citizens concerned about the economic future of the country.
