Burundi goalkeeper Jonathan Nahimana has expressed his desire to gain revenge over Kenya National team Harambee Stars, who beat them in 2017 in the CECAFA challenge cup that was held in Kenya, the last time the two sides met.
Nahimana who has earned 34 caps for the Swallows, believes that both sides have all what it takes to return to the Africa Cup of Nations tournament and seal a ticket to the 2026 World Cup.
The revenge will be assuredly in the minds of Burundi when they face Stars tomorrow at Bingu Stadium in Malawi for the 2026 World cup qualifiers for the first time since the painful CECAFA defeat.
The experienced goalkeeper was in goal in 2017 when Kenya sent them home.
Ahead of the tomorrow’s contest, Nahimana who has been the preferred starter for a long time, expects a tough match but a won for Burundi.
“I still have memories of the CECAFA defeat to Kenya close to seven years ago. We meet again tomorrow in a very important game. It will be a tough one as both teams are from the same region, and will be pushing hard for a win. Our preparations have been so well,” he said.
