The National super league round 33 is set to kickoff today with Nairobi United hosting Mombasa Elite at Kasarani Annex at 2pm, setting stage for weekend clashes.
Fresh from a convincing 3-1 victory over Darajani Gogo, Nairobi United will aim to secure another win and move to the 3rd position in the league table.,
However, their position will be temporary, as Naivas plays relegation-threatened Kajiado FC tomorrow.
This match promises high stakes, with results impacting both ends of the table.
A positive outcome for Mombasa elite will boost their fight against relegation.
Mombasa has been on upward trajectory since the start of the month, remaining unbeaten in their last four matches. Although all have been ending in a draw.
The Patrick Nyale coached team has held promotion favourites Naivas, Vihiga bullets, Kajiado and MCF to draws.
This performance has lifted them from the bottom to 16th place, with 30 points.
Mombasa will be without key players, including goalkeeper Richard Ebenyo, defender Hakim Ingosi and Daniel Odhiambo, all sidelined due to illness.
Despite these challenges, goalkeeper trainer Sunil Shah remains confident in securing a win against Nairobi united.
“We have prepared well for the match. We know the caliber of our opponent, but the team is committed to getting the job done because a Win here will significantly boost our chances of playing in the league next season,” hee said.
Nairobi heads into the clash favorites, relying on their recent form, which has seen Edwin Mwaura’s side win two out of their last three matches.
The first league between the two teams resulted in a 2-1 victory for Nairobi united at Mbaraki sports club.
