It’s just three months before 2023 comes and the year has witnessed lots of breakups especially from celebrities.

While some of the celebrity couples managed to sort out their differences and reunited, for  some separation seems to be a permanent decision.

Here is a list of celebrity breakups that have left Kenyans in shock this year.

Kate Actress and Director Phil

This is the latest celebrity couple to announce that they are no  longer in a relationship. The two got married in  November 2017 at Windsor Golf hotel and country club and proceeded to their honeymoon in Seychelles.

However on Tuesday September 19, they dropped the bombshell revealing that they broke up a long time ago but chose to keep the matter private.

“We came to a conclusion to end our marriage a long while ago and separated. We sincerely request everyone to honour our wishes for privacy for us and our children,” the duo said in  a joint statement.

A few months ago, fans had suspected that all is not well between them after Kate unfollowed Phil and even deleted most of his photos on her Instagram account. The duo also declined to confirm if they were still together after being contacted by radio journalist Ankali Ray.

In April, Kate also poured cold water on separation rumours by sharing a video with Phil during a birthday party. The two are blessed with a daughter and Kate has a son from a previous relationship.

Vera Sidika and Brown Mauzo

After long suspicions that the two were no longer together, Mauzo came out, on August 30, to reveal that they ended their union.

“Dear friends and supporters, I wanted to take a moment to share some personal news. After much consideration, Vera Sidika and I decided to part ways. Our journey has been filled with unforgettable moments but we have reached a point where it’s best for both of us and our babies, Asia and Ice to move forward separately,” the Coast-based singer revealed.

Just like Kate and Phil they also didn’t provide the reason for their decision. Suspicions about their troubled marriage began when they unfollowed each other on Instagram and deleting each other’s photos.

Vera and Mauzo have two children together.

Jackie Matubia and Blessing Lungaho

The two also remained lip-tight about their troubled relationship and Matubia only came out to reveal their separation towards the end of July.

“Proud single mother of two,” she simply said in her statement.

Lungaho on the other hand has never addressed their breakup. The two have a daughter together.

Baha and Georgina Njenga

This is the youngest celebrity couple to end their union on this list. The two were blessed with a daughter in May last year.

In mid July, Georgina confirmed that she was no longer in a relationship with the Machachari actor.

“No, we broke up,” she responded to a fan who wanted to know if they were still dating. Baha on the other hand has declined to address their separation a number of times.

In early June, fans realised that the two were no longer following each other, shortly after Baha was exposed for being a scammer and a betting addict.

Georgina however said that the decision to part ways was arrived because the relationship was no longer working.

“There was no specific reason; it was not just working out. I can’t pinpoint one thing. I can’t say he did this or that or I did that. It was piled up issues… and it reaches a time you realize this is not working out. First of all, none of us decided that they have dumped the other but a mutual agreement on this is not working out. So no one left the other, we discussed and agreed that we can’t continue,” she said in an interview.

Bwire Ndubi and Dan Sonko

Dan revealed that she had parted ways with the Sultana actress in July this year. The father of two said that they will however remain partners in business.

“Bwire Ndubi and I are no longer romantically together. We are still very good friends, but when it comes to love/family – to each their own. We still maintain a cordial business relationship. I respect her as a queen in her own right. I care deeply for her, but the decision we arrived at was mutually agreed,” he shared.

The two began dating in 2018 after the death of Dan’s wife during child birth.
