Bobi the world oldest dog has passed away at the age of 31 in an animal orphanage in Portugal as announced by the Guinness Book of Records

In Dog years, Bobi was roughly 86 years old which shocked many because he was able to live double the expected life span.

He  was a purebred Rafeiro do Alentejo, a Portuguese breed of farm and guardian dog whose life expectancy  is estimated to be between 12 to 14 years.

Speaking to members of the press, Bobi’s owner Leonel Costa stated that the family would hold on to the beautiful moments when Bobi was happy and  above all the memories where he made  lot of people happy.

”We have better memories of a long life where he was happy and, above all, where he made a lot of people happy especially his family,” Costa declared.

When asked the secret behind his dog’s old age, Costa stated that Bobi led a calm and peaceful life since he was allowed to roam freely and ate human meals

said that he would describe Bobi’s life as calm and peaceful as he had free land to run around and good meals.

“What we ate, they ate too,” Costa said

The oldest dog’s demise was announced in Facebook by his official vet nary Dr. Karen Becker who termed Bobi as a sweetest  boy sharing with the public that he had gotten his wings,

”This sweet boy earned his wings,” the  Dr. captioned a photo of Bobi.

Tributes started streaming quick, with Guinness book of record being among the first organizations to send their condolences.

“Saddened to learn of the death of Bobi,  the world’s oldest dog ever,” Guinness book of records wrote.

Bobi was born in a litter of four puppies and become a Guinness  record holder after his age was confirmed by his 1992 registration with a veterinary medical service in Leiria, Portugal, and with a Portuguese government-owned pet database, Guinness stated.
