President Ruto commenced his five day tour to the Western Region last Saturday and is he expected to commission several ongoing development projects in the region.
The president kicked off his tour in Busia County where he commissioned the Mulukhubu Fish Landing Site and Surgical Unit at the Busia Teaching and Referral Hospital.
He the proceeded to Bungoma on Sunday where he officially opened the Bungoma County Assembly House and later attended a church service alongside the county’s Governor Ken Lusaka, Mumias East MP Peter Salasya, Paul Otuoma and Kakamega County Fernandes Barasa.
Ruto also promised Bungoma County a modern county industrial park which he stated under Ken Lusaka administration that Ksh 100 million has been set aside for the project.
He later set his tour to Mumias West where he launched the upgrading of Mumias-Musanda road.
Ruto revisited the sugarcane matter and confirmed with the residents that there will be no privatisations of sugarcane land from the farmers.
In addition he promised that his government will clear all outstanding debts that currently stands at 117 million shillings.
“No sugarcane land will be privatised under my administration. I will see that my administration will curb the cartel issues that seeks to privatise lands and sugarcane companies…all the current debts will be wiped out. We have come to a mutual agreement with CS for agriculture and the rest will be done in the national assembly once the bill is passed.” He said
Furthermore, Ruto promised new machine for miller’s in the region to replace the current one which has defaults.
“A new milling machine which is more effective and durable will be provided soon. My government has knowledge that the current machine keeps breaking down interfering with the production,” he added
The President is also expected to chair a cabinet meeting in Kakamega lodge tomorrow.
Other projects to be commissioned by the president in the western region include Alupe University College Library, Affordable Housing in Lurambi and opening of Emubaya Sub-County Hospital.
