Actress and Comedian Awinja, real name Jacky Vike, has been captivating netizens with the two men, who pose as her children in her hilarious clips.
The trio recently went viral as they travelled to Mombasa for a vacation while donning matching outfits made from curtains. They first used a Guardian bus and later boarded SGR Train from Nairobi to Coast.
In a recent interview while attending the 5th edition of Njugush’s comedy show, Awinja was asked how she came up with the outfits.
Her response was; “I’m a very random creator, nikiona kitu nawezakuwa inspired na anything. Mi niliangalia hizo curtains na nikaona hii si inakaa tu kitengelike any other kitenge. We were just inspired by the curtains. In most of my skits, I tend to match everything.”
According to her, people were staring and laughing at them because of the outfits but they realized that they were acting.
“It was weird. Because we were matching outfits kila mtu alikuwa anatuangalia mavienyejie But walijua tulikuwa tunact, walikuwa wanapiga picha, wanacheka sana,” she said, admitting that they had so much fun during the vacation.
She however noted that her ‘kids’ were stubborn during the trip, which is normal.
“It was hectic. Kawaida ya watoto wanasumbua. Watoto ni pressure, ikisafiri na watoto wanakupatia pressure but we had so much fun,” she said.
On why she didn’t come with the ‘kids’ to the comedy show, Awinja said, “This is a night event. They are under 18, the cold. I could have punish them. I might also get arrested for taking them out at night so the kids should just sleep. They loved Mombasa that they even wanted to bring along the salt so that we could use for cooking.”
