Actress Catherine Kamau and Film Director Philip Karanja alias Director Phil are no longer husband and wife.

The duo confirmed their separation in a mutual statement.

“We came to a conclusion to end our marriage a long while ago and are separated. We sincerely request everyone to honour our wished for privacy for us and our children,” the statement read in part.

Catherine, popularly known as Kate Actress, went ahead to state that their breakup was not a secret but a they preferred to keep it private.

”Was never a secret we just kept it private, To all our dear fans Asante sana for the support over the years,” she said.

Director Phil Karanja on the other hand also disclosed that they relationship is still cordial and they are still friends and business partners.

“Hii mambo ya watu wawili but allow us to add you to the group chat kidogo so we can proceed with our lives bila story mob,” he said.

“Kate and I remain friends, co-parents and business partners.” he added.

It can be remembered when Kate Actress was selected as a member of the board in the Talanta Hela by Ababu Namwamba, a section of her fans speculated that they had separated after she was seen avoiding the company of Phil Karanja.

According to the premise of their reveal of the separation to the public they saw it fit to keep it silent since their intertwining work related engagements that prevented them from announcing the break up.

Rumor has it the two parted ways because of infidelity, but none of they came out to deny the allegations sometime back

The two wedded in 2017 and consummated their marriage by having a daughter.
