MWANGI

Renown activist and photographer Boniface Mwangi is scheduled to face sentencing on November 1st, 2023, following accusations that he made against former Machakos Governor  and current CS for Tourism and Wildlife Alfred Mutua.

While issuing an update on the case, Mwangi said that he submitted evidence which detectives shared with the suspects hence the unexpected turn of events.

He however say that he will never apologize for speaking the truth.

“On 1st November 2023, I will be sentenced for saying the truth, that @DrAlfredMutua bombed our family house. I submitted evidence to@DCI_Kenyaand they shared it with the suspects. I’m ready to go to jail because l will never apologize for saying the truth. Truth isn’t a crime!” he wrote

Mwangi had claimed that Mutua was involved in a bombing incident that targeted his residence, that was still under construction, back in October  2021. In a series of tweets, the activist claimed that he had been targeted, because of the posts he shared online concerning the breakup of Mutua and Lilian Ng’ang’a.

“I’m not a criminal. I don’t do deals. I have never compromised my values. The State has blown up the house my family was building. The bullets, the explosives they used are on the scene. So, what kind of a country are we living in?,” he lamented then.

Mutua vehemently denied any involvement in the alleged incident and maintained his innocence throughout the investigation. He also issued a demand letter to Mwangi, threatening to sue him.

“As a consequence of your cited publication our client has been gravely injured in his character, credit, and reputation and his standing in the public generally and in the governance community in particular have been brought to great ridicule, scandal and odium, and contempt in the eyes of right thinking members of the society, locally and internationally,” the letter dated October 21, 2021 read in part.
