Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has taken pride for being among the leaders who opposed the impeachment of Rigathi Gachagua from office by voting No.
Salasya criticized senators Edwin Sifuna(Nairobi), Ledama Ole Kina(Narok) among other opposition leaders whop supported Gachagua’s removal right for the National Assembly all the way to the Senate.
He accused the leaders of being used by the government,. He added that he longer holds respect for the leaders for taking such a position.
“Kina Sifuna kina Ole Kina pia wamekuwa abe**ambi(bootlickers of UDA). Sisis sote ni ghas*ia, takataka ya kutumika. I used to overate Senate, kina Otiende kumbe I can be more independent than them. Am proud of myself. Wacha tukuwe sote ng’ombe. No respect to all of them. Mtu akuje kuniringiua hapa ati senator ati counsel,” Salasya dared them..
The Senate upheld Gachagua’s impeachment on Thursday night. 53 of them voted for his removal.
“DP Gachagua ceases to hold office,” Speaker Amason Kingi declared after voting was concluded.
The senators voted for each of the 11 charges that Gachagua was facing.
Before voting, Sifuna admitted that the case presented by the National Assembly wasn’t perfect but he noted that he had agonised over some of the issues that they raised. Below are his remarks.
