Award winning online journalist Lynn Ngugi has condemned musician Miss P for using sexual abuse to chase clout.
Miss P levelled the allegations against singer Willy Paul two years ago but she recently made a U-turn on saying that she was not in her right mind. She went to the extend of releasing a song with her alleged perpetrator.
While most Kenyans let the matter how down the drain, Lynn Ngugi, through her you tube channel, has called out Miss P for her absurd allegations saying they should not be tolerated as it is a mockery to the true survivors of sexual abuse.
“Now, while I agree these two make great music together, such acts of clout chasing should not be tolerated. This is a slap to the real survivors of sexual abuse.” said Ngugi
The former Tuko news journalist added that sexual abuse is a very sensitive topic in the society that should not be joked about. She further opined that society has bend towards women on matters rape, that there are many men in prison today who are serving terms for offenses they never committed.
“We as a society bend towards women especially in matters of sexual abuse. How many men are in prison today for a crime they did not commit? Sexual abuse is not something anyone should be joking around with” added Ngugi.
According to her, the use of rape allegations for clout chasing has considerably dire consequences, like people doubting the validity of such claims by true victims.
“It hurts that she is able to instill doubts about such an important topic in the society. Rape is not something that should be joked about” she insisted.
Kenyan artists have adopted clout chasing as one of the ways of trying to remain relevant in the media industry. An act that is now becoming obnoxious.
