Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja has unveiled the first edition of ”Sakaja tournament cup” in Charter hall Nairobi today.
The tournament is the newest addition to the county’s football calendar and it is set to witness a face off between 385 teams from the 85 wards in Nairobi county.
The four eligible teams will then proceed to battle it out for the Sakaja super cup and a cash reward of Sh300,000,000
The tournament is set to happen within 10 weeks. It will kickstart on September 30,2023 and will culminate on December 16.
Taking to his X account, the city boss announced his latest accomplishment. He stated that there would be winners in all levels but only 4 teams will get to battle it out for the cash and the coveted super cup.

Sakaja explained that the tournament which is powered by Sakaja foundation would bring lots of fun across the county before adding that there would be numerous rewards including a prize for the best fan base.

Football fanatics and Nairobi county residents flocked the comment section some with congratulatory messages for Governor on his new project while some felt that the reward was too small compared to the number of teams playing.
