President William Ruto and former DP Rigathi Gachagua have the for the first time shared a platform, since Gachagua’s outser.

The two leaders met on Saturday November 16, during the Episcopal ordination and installation of Rt. Rev. Peter Kimani as Bishop of Embu Diocese.

Also present was former president Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.

According to photos shared online, Gachagua was spotted sitting next to Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamchomba. Uhuru, Ruto and Kindiki on the other hand were seated in the front row

The event however comes at a time when there is tension between the Catholic church and the government.

The catholic church bishops recently criticized the government for  “failing to fulfil its promises and entrenching a culture of lies and corruption.”

Responding to the statement by the Bishops, Ruto urged the clergy to work with government to build a better Kenya.

“I want to ask leaders and clergy to work together towards a nation we can all be proud of and even as we engage in public discourse, which is important to Kenyans. We must be careful to be factual lest we become victims of the things we accuse others of doing, I know you know what I mean,” the head of state said.
