President William Ruto, in a  plan to reconstruct a broad-based government, has nominated several opposition leaders to cabinet positions.

They include;

  • Mining – Hassan Joho
  • Cooperatives – Wycliffe Oparanya
  • National Treasury – John Mbadi
  • Energy – Opiyo Wandayi

In the fresh nominations, Ruto retained Kipchumba Murkomen, who has been nominated as CS for Youths Affairs and Sports, Justin Muturi for Public service  and Stella Langat in the ministry of Gender.

Alfred Mutua has been shifted to the ministry of Labour, Salim Mvurya to the Trade  Ministry and Rebecca Miano  to the Tourism

“I will immediately engage in extensive consultations across different sectors and political formations, with the aim of setting up a broad-based government that will assist me in accelerating and expediting the necessary, urgent and irreversible, implementation of radical programmes to deal with the burden of debt, raising domestic resources, expanding job opportunities, eliminate wastage and unnecessary duplication of a multiplicity of government agencies,” Ruto said.
