New Prayer Center and Church founder Pastor Ezekiel Odero has been arrested  and his main church in Kilifi shut down by police on Thursday morning.

According to the Coast Regional Coordinator Rhoda Onyancha, Pastor Ezekiel was arrested in relation to deaths that have been occurring in his church.

“We have arrested Ezekiel Odero of the New Prayer Center and Church in Mavueni, Kilifi county on allegations of the deaths that have been occurring in his premises and have been reported in various morgues or institutions. We have also taken action and closed down the prayer center going forward. Whatever was in there has been cleared and he is being brought to Mombasa and we will be giving you updates as time goes by,” Onyancha told journalist.

A video that was shared online showed Pastor Ezekiel being ushered into a police station as he held his Bible.

On Wednesday, the preacher was summoned by detectives over the questionable religious practices in his church. He however denied claims that his church was involved with cultism.

This however come at a time when police are conducting investigations into the Shakahola Massacre that has been linked to pastor Paul Mackenzie.

Pastor Ezekiel has however been associated with Mackenzie. It has been reported that Mackenzie sold his TV station and car to pastor Ezekiel before relocating to Shakahola.
