Senator Okiya Omtatah has denounced some political leaders for allegedly attempting to revive the tribal narratives of the previous, tribalist-dominated political system.
In a statement on X, the senator stated that the nation must never return to the times when political parties mobilized along racial lines.
According to Omtatah, all Kenyans should work to establish a nation where an individual’s ethnic background does not determine their fate in order to preserve the new tribeless society outlined in the 2010 constitution.

“Going forward, all Kenyans of all generations and walks of life must arise, boldly stand up and make the conscious decision to protect the new tribeless society anchored in the constitution by working to create a country where one’s ethnic background is not a do or die affair,” Omtatah said.
“I take this opportunity to congratulate yet again the tribeless Gen-z revolutionaries who, in their courage, determination, and clarity of mind, driven by the Constitution, have slayed the monster of impunity, tribalism, regionalism, mediocrity, corruption, wastefulness, and general political decay that have to date not only defined us but also denied us the real promise of this great nation.”
The senator additionally stated that Gen Z’s demands demonstrate their need for accountability and equitable inclusion in the government.
He went on to say that criticizing a bad leader among Gen Z ought not to be seen as an act of communal conflict.
“Kenya’s tribeless youth movement’s promise of a great nation must not be lost,” he added
“Those in authority must be held accountable for lives lost during recent protests, abductions and countless injuries some protesters have been left nursing.”
