Members of the County Assembly in Bomet have denied claims by Governor Hillary Barchok that each ward has received sh 96 million for development.
The MCAs termed the remarks as misleading, noting that their constituents are now demanding answers from them concerning the same.
Speaker Cosmas Korir observed that no such funds have been disbursed so far, urging the governor to clarify when and how the funds were disbursed.
Addressing the press in Bomet town, he listed the hardships facing residents, which include scarcity of water, lack of medicines at public facilities and poor roads.
“We heard the Governor Claiming that MCAs have received sh 96 m for development in the wards. This is not true. We want the governor to clarify when and how the funds were released,” he noted.
Korir said a comprehensive report concerning water supply was handed to the Executive, adding that the County Water Executive will appear before the county Assembly in two weeks to shed light on the implementation of the report.
“Residents of Bomet are grappling with so many problems, which include shortage of water, medicines and poor roads. We submitted a comprehensive report concerning water supply to the Executive and the County Water Executive will appear before the county Assembly in two weeks to shed light on the implementation of the report,” added Korir.
Questions have also been raised about the slow pace of road construction and the delayed release of monthly stipend to the elderly, with the relevant Executives also set to appear before the assembly to shed more light on the same.
Governor Barchok recently claimed that sh 96 million had been disbursed to the Wards, further challenging MCAs to define the expenditure of the funds.
