Kanjo

Kanjo have frequently caused a stir in the city, with various people narrating their ordeals. One such case is of a Nairobi woman who has since gone viral after after she captured herself  in a heated confrontation with a Kanjo official in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) over a parking dispute.

In the viral video, the female can be seen contesting the officer’s attempt to arrest her and impound her car.

Her insistence on reasoning with the officer and the exchange of insults that followed amazed on-lookers.

“Why are you acting this way? I just wanted to sit in my car, and we could go wherever I’m heading,” she boldly exclaimed in the video.

“I’m taking you with me right now, and we’re taking my car. Why did you even get into it? Are you a traffic police officer? Why did you get into my car?” I am  taking you to my destination, you nuisance. You’re causing problems for Kenyans, and they are stressed. Why did you get into my car? I’m telling you, you’re a nuisance, and we’re taking you with us. I’m not even going to work; we’re taking you. Why did you get into my car? Are you a traffic police officer?” she insisted.

In response, the Kanjo tried to plead with the lady to allow him to leave, but she becomes even more furious.

“Mbona unitusi,” he implored.

“I’m taking you all the way to Ng’ong. We’re making a road trip out of it. You have very bad manners. I can’t park my car, and you keep getting in. Didn’t I tell you I want to park my car? Why did you refuse? I told you I wanted to park, and then both of you came? I told that guy not to get into the car; I don’t park cars,”N the woman however added.

The kanjo official  went ahead to beg her to stop recording but she heard none of it.

“What was my mistake?”She repeatedly asked. “I will stay with you inside here. I have nothing to lose. I’m in charge.”
