Sotik Member of Parliament Francis Sigei has lauded the Competency Based Curriculum(CBC), urging Kenyans to fully support the Curriculum.
He noted that unlike 8-4-4, CBC focuses on competencies, which he said is key in tackling unemployment which has remained a challenge in the country.
Speaking in the area, he noted that he recently met education stakeholders from Sotik, Kaplong and Ndanai, where they discussed how to implement it.
“CBC is good because it turns youths to be job creators and not seekers. To attain success, we recently met as education stakeholders to deliberate on how to implement it,” he said.
He appealed for close cooperation among education stakeholders, reaffirming his commitment to raise academic standards in the area.
According to him, the upgrading of JSS classrooms is ongoing across the area, with 4 classrooms having been set up in each of the 5 model schools in the area.
He underscored the benefits of Technical skills, stating that the Education Principal will soon preside over the distribution of tools of trade to youths who usually graduated of TTIs.
“Education is the key and I hereby request parents to invest in their children’s education, especially TTIs. I have talked with Education PS and he will soon preside over the distribution of tools of trade to our youths who recently graduated from Kisumu,” added Sigei.
Sigei further challenged bursary beneficiaries to work hard, further promising to fulfil all his pre-election promises.
