Olunga has been under criticism from Kenyan football fanatics after the poor display by Qatar national team in the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

“If Qatar League was weak as they are saying, every player could have been scoring hattrick every week” he added
After Qatar national team lost 2:0 to Ecuador, kenyans rushed to Juakali’s tweet to Olunga where he refered to Olunga’s opponents as Mafala.
The 2021 AFC Champions League top scorer insists he has no issue with Jua Kali or anyone critisizing him.
“I have no problems with anyone critisizing the decision I made to play in Qatar. As far as am concern, am very happy here”
“I don’t have anything against Juakali. As an individual, I will never downgrade anybody who is trying to make a living out of art” Olunga added
Asked about his next move, the former Gor Mahia FC expresed his desire to join Real Madrid FC
“My dream is always to play for Real Madrid FC. I love their history, I love how they play. It remains my dream team”
Olunga moved to Qatar Stars League champions Al-Duhail on a three-seasons contract in January 2021 for a transfer fee of €6 million (Ksh 889 million) and a reported salary of Ksh. 7 million per week.
