Meru women have ganged up in support of their governor Kawira Mwangaza who is set to face the senate plenary today over her impeachment.
They lamented that women in Meru County were not involved in leadership roles drawing examples from the failed third rule in the county as there is only one female member in the county assembly.
The women blamed the lack of gender balance on the men in Meru stating that they were misogynistic.
According to the group, the males in the county only welcomed ideas that involved women doing their laundry, cooking them a good meal, and guaranteeing a warm bed but shied away from ideas that suggested women could also lead.
” Eunice lamented.
The group of women further threatened to deny their men conjugal rights and to stop performing their gender roles if the men in the community did not allow them to lead before arguing that women in meru were well learned and qualified based on merits to occupy leadesrship positions.
Eunice stated amid claps from members of the group
