Nancy Kigunzu Endoveria alias Mathe wa Ngara will remain in police custody for five days
JKIA court senior principal magistrate Njeri Thuku allowed police to detain Kigunzu so as investigations into drug trafficking allegations that have been levelled her can be concluded.
“Having gone through the submissions by both parties, I find that the prosecution application to detain the respondent is merited. The suspect is to be detained at Muthaiga Police Station for five days to allow police to complete their investigations,” the magistrate ruled.
The suspect will be arraigned on court on Monday 28, to take a plea.
The magistrate also allowed Mathe wa Ngara to seek medical attention after she told the court that she suffers anxiety. Thuku directed the Muthaiga OCS to escort the suspect to hospital. The suspect, through her legal team, complained of being denied access to her medication.
“It should not happen that when I want you in court is when you claim to be in hospital. Let’s not play those games. She has her right to access medication but only under the full escort of the police,” the magistrate said.
The investigation into the Ngara drug trafficking syndicate, which began a week ago, has kept the public and media in suspense as details surrounding the case remain covered in mystery.
Kigunzu, a well-known figure within Ngara , gained prominence through her business activities at the area. However, recent events have cast a shadow over her reputation, as law enforcement authorities initiated an inquiry into her affairs.
For the past five days, Mathe wa Ngara has remained in the spotlight, her actions and associations subjected to intense scrutiny. Her legal representation has assured that she is fully cooperating with the authorities during this period.
