Brazil manager Tite yesterday announced Brazil’s FIFA World Cup 26-Man squad with Manchester United’s Casemiro, Fred, Antony, and Alex Telles. Telles is currently on loan at Spanish side Sevilla, while Casemiro, Fred, and Antony have all played key roles for Erik ten Hag’s team which is currently fifth on the log.

Among the notable names missing in the Brazil squad are Liverpool star Roberto Firmino and Arsenal defender Gabriel who scored for the Gunners in their 1-0 win at Chelsea on Sunday.

Firmino is one of four players called up to Brazil’s penultimate squad for the World Cup in September to not be selected for Qatar, the others being Nottingham Forest full-back Renan Lodi, Roma defender Roban Ibanez and Atletico Madrid’s Matheus Cunha.

Tite was unable to add Aston Villa’s Phillipe Coutinho to his squad after the midfielder suffered a thigh injury that will keep him out of the entire tournament.

Former Barcelona right-back Dani Alves was the surprise call-up to the national team despite not playing a competitive match in two months. At 39 years, Alves will be the oldest player ever named to a Brazilian World Cup squad.
