Amid growing dissatisfaction with the current regime, Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party leader Raila Odinga has declared that he will soon announce the official date for the resumption of mass protests.

Speaking on June 7, 2023, Odinga expressed his disappointment with the government’s performance and assured the Kenyans that they will be informed on the next course of action. He also urged them to prepare for nationwide protests aimed at pressuring President William Ruto to lower cost of living.

“This regime is not up to what Kenyans expect. We are going to tell Kenyans what to do. I have been asked wherever I go, tangaza maandamano. We are putting them on notice, tutatangaza,” Raila said.

He further said that the Kenya Kwanza government, led by President Wiliam Ruto, has failed to meet the needs of Kenyans.

“Kenyans are hurting. They are suffering. They came to power through the backdoor when they were not ready to govern and now want to pour their inefficiency on poor Kenyans,” the 2022 presidential candidate said, adding that the proposed taxes are a great threat to common mwananchi

“The Kenya Kwanza leadership has refused to listen to the cries of hustlers, mama mboga, boda boda riders, and other Kenyans who can barely afford two meals a day and are insisting on imposing more taxes on the already suffering populace,” he went on.

The opposition chief further noted that he will soon address the nation on the controversial 2023 Finance Bill , together with his colleagues in Azimio La Umoja Coalition, and give Kenyans the way forward. He asked Ruto to listen to the voices of Kenyans opposed to the bill
