The controversial senator recently made headlines after she tabled a motion in parliament to ban Aluta, a popular trend of partying nonstop on Sundays involving selling of alcoholic drinks and other substances and clubbing beyond the recommended time.
The motion that was tabled on November 30 seeks to address 5 key issues.
Firstly, Nyamu asked the senate committee to outline any of the governments plans to address the rise of uncontrolled partying and clubbing beyond the recommended time.
She went on to seek for a ” comprehensive statistics” on licensed bars and pubs and a report on whether they pose risk to their environs.
Aside from that, Nyamu wants the committee to outline measures by the government that ensure strict adherence to “legally stated hours of operation by alcohol-selling join.”
She further said that the statement should include government’s plan to ban and control Aluta activities as well as an initiative to address the growing number of clubs and alcohol selling joints in residential areas.
