Gen Z activist and top critic of the government Kasmuel MCoure is under fire after his photos with Mugirango South MP Sylvanus Osoro went viral.
The duo were captured engaging in conversations and laughing as they locked hands. Judging from the photos, many have accused MCoure of being a traitor and a sellout.
Following the criticism, Mcoure has come out to clarify, insisting that his aim of calling for a better governance still stands.
“I go to that members’ club often and meet plenty of Kenyans there. The Majority Whip of Parliament is one of the many members. It was my first time meeting him, and I took the opportunity to say to his face what I’ve always said online: Their government has failed us in fundamental ways. Extrajudicial killings, false promises on service delivery, and a blatant disregard for the rule of law.
“We disagreed on several issues and agreed on a few. We even had a good laugh before I moved on to the meeting I was actually there for,” he clarified.
He told off critics saying that he would not waste any chance he gets to speak the truth as his leadership is not only destined to end in the streets.
“The influence I have is held in escrow, representing the underprivileged youth we engage with in communities across the country. It stands for the families of those who marched with me but never returned. I wish you’d also shine as great a light on those moments and help us drive that conversation forward,” he said.
