Kakamega county governor Fernandes Barasa has pledged Ksh 200 Million to the Kakamega county health sector for  drugs and non pharmaceuticals.

While announcing this, the governor also revealed  that the respective health departments will be supplied by the drugs and pharmaceuticals.

“Health facilities throughout the entire County will soon receive drugs and non-pharmaceuticals worth Ksh.200 million, which have already been ordered.”

The Kakamega governor was speaking this during a visit on one of the county’s health care project in Musanda Dispensary, Mumias West Sub county where he assured the locals of affordable health care services when the drugs and  equipment will be delivered.

Earlier this month, governor Fernandes Barasa found himself in hot soup after he proposed the position of an office for his spouse which was meant to centralize the county’s concerns.

The decision was met with massive  rejection especially from local and regional leaders who claimed that the decision was in unconstitutional and self driven.

In their defiance the county’s leaders thought it would be wiser to focus and fuel energy on the county’s health sector which lacked drugs and modern healthcare facilities to counter emergencies.

Funding of the county’s health-care therefore comes at a critical time when there is dire need of drugs in most dispensaries in the county and also the General Hospital.
