From July 1 2024, Jambo Jet is set to start direct flights from Mombasa to Zanzibar. This achievement comes after the airline achieved a remarkable 54% market share in the domestic aviation sector last year September.
Jambo Jet Chairman, Mr. Vincent Rague,speaking at the ongoing Magical Kenya and East African Region Tourism Expo said, that move connects the two breathtaking destination.
“The Mombasa – Zanzibar route is not just a flight route but a bridge connecting the region to beautiful coastal experiences in Kenya and Zanzibar. With its rich history, pristine beaches, and vibrant culture, the two destinations are gems within the Indian Ocean, and we are delighted to bring these breathtaking destinations closer to you,” he said.
The airline will be flying four times a week with fares staring from Ksh17,086 including taxes.
The Tourism Marketing Strategy of the East African Community (EAC) aims to establish the region as the premier sustainable tourism destination in Africa. This strategy outlines five key objectives, including the development of competitive multi-destination tourism products, the branding of East Africa as a unified tourism destination, and the promotion of the EAC as a top regional tourism sport in Africa
During the same event, Mr. Karanja Ndegwa, the Managing Director and CEO of Jambojet, emphasized the airline’s commitment to the growing tourism sector in Africa. He highlighted their focus on meeting consumer needs and insights while adapting to market dynamics. Mr. Ndegwa emphasized the importance of reliable, affordable, and accessible connectivity for enabling multi-destination travel, citing Jambo jet’s role in expanding their network, such as the recent introduction of the Mombasa – Zanzibar route.
Jambojet operates flights to seven destinations from its main hub at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, serving Mombasa, Eldoret, Kisumu, Malindi
