Lang’ata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwour alias Jalang’o has expressed that Kenya might not be ready to host the African Cup Of Nations.
The legislator was reacting to a joint statement that was issued by two governors from the western region. The statement expressed their disappointment in the government for choosing Nairobi and Eldoret as the location where the matches will be played insisting that Kakamega or Kisumu was a better option.
Taking to his largely followed X account , the former radio presenter pointed out that Nairobi with all its social amenities was not yet ready to host the game hence Kakamega and Kisumu counties were being over ambitious with their request .
The controversial politician revealed that if Kenya was given the chance to host the opening ceremony, the hosting city would need 32 top hotels so as to meet the demands of the participating nations and the fans, a luxury that does not exist in any city.
The entertainer proceeded to poke fun at Kakamega county enquiring if top footballers like Sadio Mane would find a classy hotel to board.
”Forget about Eldoret, Kisumu or Kakamega hosting AFCON, Is Nairobi even ready? If we host the opening ceremony do you know we will need 32 top hotels to host the participating nations? The fans? Kakamega asking to host AFCON, wapi? Mane atalala Kakamega Golf ama ValuValu?” he posted.
