Two-time Olympic marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge has come out to speak about his performance in the just concluded  127th edition of Boston Marathon.

The Eneos Challenge record breaker has admitted the just ended race outweighed his intelligence and versatility.

Kipchoge finished 6th Kipchoge, in Boston in two hours, nine minutes and 23 seconds, the slowest marathon time of his career. The winner, Champatriot Evans Chebet crossed the finish line the after timing 2:05:54.

Through a post on his Twitter account, Kipchoge noted that the race was tough for him. He also he lives for the moments where he gets to challenge the limits where it’s never guaranteed.

“Today was a tough day for me. I pushed myself as hard as I could but sometimes, we must accept that today wasn’t the day to push the barrier to a greater height,” said Kipchoge.

Kipchoge also took his time to congratulate his competitors and thanked everyone in Boston and in Kenya for the incredible support that he was humbled to receive.

The 38-year old had hoped to set a new course record in Boston as he targets to be the first man in history to set new course records in all the six World Marathon Majors. He went into Boston with 17 wins out of 19 in marathons he has participated.

Kenyans have however taken to social media to congratulate the G.O.A.T athlete for his good performance despite not bagging the gold medal. President William Ruto took to his tweeter to join netizens in praising the marathon Legend.

“@EliudKipchoge, you are the beast: an inspiration to generations to dream far beyond their potential. Hongera,” the head of state said.
