Karen Nyamu has broken silence following reports that her Runda household items were set to be auctioned over Kshs1,25 million rent arrears.
Speaking in an interview with K24 on Tuesday morning, the nominated senator said that she is fine and not broke as people imagined.
She added that some people had already contributed money for her. She however clarified that she is not in need.
“Yesterday I got people wanting to raise money for me. They think I am broke. I am not broke but thanks for your concern. I actually got some contributions on my phone. I am very thankful but I am fine. I don’t need it right now. When I need it, I will definitely be giving you a pay bill number,” the mother of three said.
Responding to the auction reports earlier, Nyamu shared on X that she will share her side of the story, adding that she will proceed to court because the auctioneers were wrong.
“Do you know why I’m laughing? There’s a colleague who has asked me with concern whether I’m into casino gambling, wondering where my money is going. Be patient, I’ll share [my part of the] story,” she sated.
According to a court order that was issued by Milimani Senior Magistrate A.H. Nyoike on November 13, 2024, Nyamu risked losing her items because of the outstanding amount of money.
The court requested the OCS of Runda Police Station to provide security for Fantasy Auctioneers who were set to recover the items on behalf of Nyamu’s landlord.
