In a recent uproar on social media, Kenyan singer Akothee has taken a stand against the increasing insensitivity and lack of empathy displayed against the Bahati family.
The controversy was sparked by a photoshopped image of the Bahati family, celebrating their youngest son, Morgan’s 4th birthday. The manipulated image drew comparisons between the children in the photo and various male celebrities, leading to an outpouring of criticism.
Akothee, known for her candid and outspoken nature, did not hold back. On her Instagram, she shared the edited photo while strategically concealing the faces of Bahati and his wife, Diana.
Her caption was a poignant plea: “THIS PHOTOSHOP SHOULD STOP THERE FOR THE SAKE OF THE CHILDREN. If you hate Bahati and Diana, their children have nothing to do with it 🙏. I wish we all had humanity.”

Akothee’s message cut deep into the heart of the issue – the loss of empathy and respect in today’s digital age. She condemned the trend of maliciously comparing children and the culture of online bullying, highlighting the lasting emotional impact it can have on innocent young minds.
She went on to add, “The same photos will be used by bullies in school, to bully the innocent children on behalf of their parents. Which world are we living in? Dunia Gani hii jamani?”
She addressed the entitlement that some internet users feel, emphasizing the need for restraint and basic decency, particularly when it involves innocent children.
