Controversial Kenyan preacher Victor Kanyari has responded to Betty Bayo’s claims that they were never officially married.

Speaking to a local news site, Kanyari revealed that he went through every required procedure to make the gospel singer his wife.

According to him, he would not have had children with her if they were not married.

“I had visited her parents, paid dowry, and fulfilled all the requirements to make her my wife. I would never have children with someone I am not married to. To me, that is what being officially married means,” Pastor Kanyari said.

The controversial preacher further said that he fully takes care of their two children, revealing the significant financial commitment involved.

“They spend almost Ksh700,000 per term. I am the one who takes care of their needs, apart from food and accommodation,” he added.

Speaking on Betty Bayo’s current relationship, Pastor  Kanyari said that she should give her man children if she has moved on. He however noted that he will always be part of her life.

“Kanyari will forever be in her life as the man who came first. She will never run away from the fact that I was there before anyone else,” he said.

Betty Bayo recently left netizens talking after  revealing that her current marriage  to Hiram Gathu was her first.

The mother of two was speaking during an Episode on the gospel reality show Oh Sister. She said that she is not divorced because she has never been married.

“I am not a divorcee, I was never married twice. The mistake I made was to get into a marriage without really knowing my partner. I didn’t take my time to research on the background.” she explained.

She further said that she will soon walk down the aisle. Betty and Hiram got married in a traditional wedding in 2021.

“I am married, I have a handsome man, but the only thing you can relate to me is the ex. I believe even in your house, what you don’t use, you put in the trash. The only people who go back to the trash are mad people,” she said.
