The 95th Academy Awards unfolded at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday.

It was an night of historic wins as two films quickly emerged as dominant forces in the race to pick up the most Oscar trophies:

The German-language war epic , All quiet on the western front and the action comedy Everything Everywhere All at once.

Everything Everywhere All at Once pulled in the most awards, with seven wins in some of the biggest categories, including best picture, best director, best original screen play and three of the acting categories.

This years Oscars included a record number of Asian artists nominated for the acting categories.

India also made history with its first nomination and win in the best song category for the suspender-snapping banger “Naatu Naatu” from film.

The red carpet also came with many surprises as celebrities showed up in all manner of show-stopping gowns and sharp suits.

Angela basset showed up in a luminous mermaid-skirted ultraviolet Mochino dress paired with a Bulgari Serpenti necklace.

The Grammy award- winning singer Tems took everyone’s breath away with her white gown made by LA-based fashion designer Lessja Verlingieri of Lever couture.

Rihanna who was set to perform her Oscar-nominated song” lift me up” from the film black panther walked in glowing in a partially sheer black Alaia dress showing off her baby bump.

The Oscars this year wasn’t like last years ceremony after  “the slap” the Academy instituted a crisis team that was on hand to make  sure things didn’t get out of hand.
