Akothee has protested the move to include her name in the list of the richest artists in East Africa.

In a post she shared on her Facebook page, Akothee said that she is past the category and should be in the wealthiest list instead.

According to her, being included in the richest list is an insult to her.

In a recent ranking by Forbes, Bobi Wine topped the list with a net worth of $9.6 million. Diamond Platinumz came second with net worth of $8.6 million. He was followed by Jose Chameleone($8.1 million) and Akothee came number 4 with a net worth of $7.5 million.

Professor Jay, Ali Kiba and Jaguar settled for positions 5, 6 and 7 while Harmonize, Sauti Sol and Bebe Cool scooped the 8th, 9th and 10th positions.

Akothee’s wealth include houses, cars and several businesses that she runs including a tour and travel company and a real estate company.

She also makes money through her music career and brand endorsements. Some of the brands that she is working with include Naivas supermarket, Rosy Tissue and pads and Exe wheat flour among others.
