Equity bank has been forced to temporarily close its Othaya branch following a fire incident that occurred during the wee hours of Wednesday.
The cause of the fire is yet to be established but fortunately no casualties have been reported and the fire was contained.
In a statement, the bank revealed that the incident occurred at around 1.30am. The fire was detected by an alarm that saw fire fighters respond swiftly.
“To Our Esteemed Customers. We wish to notify you that there was a fire incident at our Othaya Branch, which was reported at 1.30 a.m. following a fire detector alarm. Wells Fargo responded, the Nyeri fire department and local police were notified and responded. The fire has been put out,” the statement read in part.
Following the fire incident, the bank has advised its customers to seek services from their alternative branches
“We advise our Othaya Branch customers to access banking services at our Kiria-ini, Nyeri or Mukurweini branches,” the bank stated, adding that customer can also access banking services by dialling *247#, through Equitel, Equity mobile App, online banking, EazzyBiz, Equity cards, ATMs as well as Equity agents.
“Thank you for your understanding,” the bank said.
