Edna Awuor made an effort to attend the funeral service of the late marathoner Kelvin Kiptum in his home in Uasin Gishu County.
In a photo shared online, Awuor was in the company of her child. She however was not treated as one of important guests as she was captured following the funeral proceedings from a distance.
Edna Awuor deserves better than this. Kelvin Kiptum was her husband. She should have been given a chance to mourn the late athlete. pic.twitter.com/jg545sV6E7

Awuor made headlines on Thursday after she moved to court seeking to block the athlete’s burial until he is recognized as her child’s biological father.
“I want the court to help me so that the child is known to be Kiptum’s like the rest of his children,” she said, adding that her child should also be recognized as a beneficiary of the wealth that the late Kiptum left behind.
“I came to court because I want to be helped. I have a child with the late Kelvin, he has been supporting the child but now that he is not there I don’t know who will help me raise the child,” she further said.
The child is one year and 7 months old.
Awuor also revealed that she had talked to Kiptum on the Sunday he died. According to her, Kiptum had informed her that he was going to Eldoret and would visit them and give her money to buy requirements for their child.
The court however declined to grant her wish, noting that a lot had been spend on the funeral arrangement and the burial has gone on as planned.
However as the burial proceeds, social media is awash with photos of Kiptum and Edna.
In a separate photo, Kiptum, is captured holding the child he allegedly got with Edna Awuor.
Kiptum, who died in a grisly road accident alongside his coach, left behind his legal wife and their two children; Precious and Caleb.
