Lawyer-turned-activist and government critic Morara Kebaso has been arraigned in court this Tuesday morning after hours of being held in police custody.

Kebaso was arrested on Monday afternoon at his Kahawa Sukari offices in Kiambu county.

During his arraignment, the prosecution preferred several charges against him including cyber harassment contrary to Section 27 of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrime Act.

The 29-year old is facing the charge for publishing false information about David Langat on September 28, 2024.

“David Morara Kebaso alias Morara Kebaso Snr on the 28th day of September 2024 at an unknown place within the Republic of Kenya, jointly with others not before the court, while using the X Corp Account dubbed; @MoraraKebasoSnr, knowingly without lawful excuse, posted false information,” read the charge sheet.

In the X post that has landed him in trouble, Kebaso claimed President William Ruto approached Langat for  funds for his campaigns. According to him, Langat even took loans to help the first in command but currently his properties are being auctioned.

“William Ruto approached DL Langat and told him he desperately needs more money for campaign. DL Langat used his properties as security and took big loans to help his friend. Right now DL Langat is being auctioned by banks and the person who is buying the properties is William Ruto. To make it worse William Ruto has used his power to undervalue the properties to buy them at a cheaper price. That is the kind of person we are dealing with. He has no friend,” Kebaso stated.

Kebaso is being represented by Lawyer Ndegwa Njiru along with SC Martha Karua, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Eugene Wamalwa.
