Puerto Rican rapper and singer Daddy Yankee has converted to Christianity to serve God as he retires in his music career .

Daddy Yankee whose real name is Ramon Luis Ayala announced the astounding piece of news during his last concert of his farewell at his homeland Puerto Rico.

“My people, this day for me is the most important day of my life. And I want to share it with you because living a life of success is not the same as living a life with purpose,” he explained as translated by NBC news in sobs further confessing that he felt unfulfilled for quite some time.

“For a long time, I tried to fill a void in my life that no one could fill. I tried to fill and find meaning in my life. Sometimes I appeared to be very happy, but something was missing to make me complete and I have to confess that those days are over. Someone was able to fill that void that I felt for a long time,” the Despacito hitmaker said.

The 46 year old singer disclosed that he was leaving his career in music, a decision influenced by his pursuit to embrace living for Jesus.

“A new story is going to begin, a new beginning, all the tools that I have in my possession, such as music, social networks, platforms, a microphone, everything that Jesus gave me is now for the kingdom,” he said.

He stated that he was not ashamed to tell the whole world that Jesus lives in him and that he will live for him.

“This is the end of one chapter and the beginning of a brand new one,”he wound up his retirement with a message on Instagram on Monday.

Yankee is the author of urban genre songs such as ‘Gasolina’, ‘Shaky shaky’ and ‘Con Calma’ and has been in the music career for 30 years.
