The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Officers have finally found a light in their pursuit of the Wells Fargo security guards who made away with 94 million while on transit to Family Bank.
The Nairobi-based sleuths revealed that they had arrested the getaway driver who they identified as Ismael Patrick Gitonga.
Gitonga allegedly used a car registered under his name, a fielder KBM 751W to ferry the stolen cash from the escort van then later dumped his car in Njiru within Kayole.
” Ismael Patrick Gitonga, the owner and driver of motor vehicle registration number KBM 751W fielder suspected to have been used to ferry the stolen cash from the escort van was arrested within Rongai area and the motor vehicle traced to Njiru within Kayole” the national police service revealed.
Also arrested during the raid were Michael Matolo Njeru and Samuel Onyango who were in the process of dismantling the escape car to conceal it.
Detectives raided one Martin Nderi Nganga in his rented house in Kasarani where 9,101,300 was recovered stashed in jerry cans and under the bed.
”Michael Matolo Njeru and Samuel Onyango were arrested in Njiru while modifying the vehicle to possibly conceal its identity. Martin Nderi nganga was arrested in Kasarani and KSh 9,101,300 recovered at his rented house” the national police disclosed in a post.

The DCI further revealed that they discovered a cashbox in a forest next to Gataka Market in Karen before assuring that the recovery of the stolen cash was still underway with regional criminal investigations working under the clock.
