Branka International College is now under the DCI radar over claims  that the institution is conducting fraudulent activities.

The institution, located at Hakati House along Mfangano Road in Nairobi. According to the DCI, several complains have been lodged by the college’s alumni.

The Alumni of Branka said that the college had obtained a wholesome amount of money in order to offer a course which  return, the course is ridiculously short-lived.

Allegedly, the learning institution charges 350, 000 Kenyan shillings for tuition fees for the 1-week course and learners are promised jobs abroad. Others are pushed to drop from the school on grounds that they failed to meet minimum qualifications.

“It has since been established that the college whose operations kicked off in 2021 is not registered as a training institution, and the proprietors only made several unsuccessful attempts to register it through online Technical and Vocational Education and Training Management Information System (TVET MIS) application portal recently after getting wind of the ongoing investigations.

“Further investigations have revealed that the college is only registered as an unspecified business, the nature of it being institution/polytechnic/colleges as per the records held in the Business Registration Service (BRS) database,” DCI revealed.

DCI added that students who demand for refunds are threatened with legal law suits.

“In a bid to intimidate victims who are since demanding for refunds or the agreed upon jobs abroad, the main suspect Ms Teresia Mumbi Kamau and her accomplice Thaitu Ng’ang’a & Associate (an advocate) threaten them with legal suits,” the statement further read.

The investigative team requested  Kamau to present the relevant documentation as proof for the college’s legitimacy. Among the documents expected to be presented by Branka owners are; Accreditation certificate from TVET, proof of partnership with TVET, agreement or contracts with USA, Europe and Australia.

She however failed to comply and instead filed for a bond at the High Court. DCI is now calling upon any victim of Branka International College at its regional headquarters located at Nairobi.

Cautions against enrolling students at Branka have been put in order to avoid being schemed by the fraudsters.
