Nakhumicha

Cabinet Secretary for Health, Susan Nakhumicha has taken to her X account with a post that contradicts the treatment of those injured in countrywide protests.

In her post, the CS says those injured are treated and discharged without being charged for the treatment.

“My attention has been drawn to efforts by some individuals to raise funds from the public to pay hospital bills for persons injured during the demonstrations. Out of the total 294 casualties attended to in our Referral Hospitals, 235 have been treated for various degrees of injuries and discharged and none has been asked for payment. 58 are still admitted with 1 in ICU, 3 waiting for theatre,” CS Nakhumicha stated.

This statement contradicts with those who have been raising money to cover hospital bills of those injured in the protests.

Youth activist Hanifa led the fundraising of the money that has been used to clear hospital bills for several injured protestor. She has also been sharing receipts from the hospitals where money was used.

However, netizens have reacted to the post by Health CS Nakhumicha asking her where she was all that time to make such comments.

Here are some of the comments towards her post:

“So when Hanifa shares the invoices with you and the proof of payment they will repay her back all the money sent? If they can’t do that, stop tweeting rubbish here. Not everyone is a fool like a UDA voter!”

“Posting this yet you know very well those surgeries couldn’t be conducted without cash is some diabolical shit from you. You literally want to say the 15M contributed wa pocketed by people? Enyewe we ni fala bana.”

“Madam Waziri, we have evidence of payments. Act swiftly and ensure you receive the correct brief. Dishonesty is not what we expect.”

Nakhumicha made her comment after KNH waived the bills of those who were admitted there from injuries sustained in the protests.

The question for many is if the money already paid to clear the bills in the hospital will be refunded, keeping in mind that Hanifa has proof of payment.
