Long-distance Matatu operators have welcomed the High Court’s move that will see their status quo in the CBD till remain the same till December 13th.

This will see them not move to Green park terminus located at Uhuru Park as recommended by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja.

According to Sakaja the move is among his plans for decongesting Nairobi’s CBD.

Eight long-distance travel operators however found governor Sakaja’s decision as discriminatory stating that it favored some of its rivals who operate in the CBD that were not put on notice to re -locate their operations to Green Park by December 1.

The petitioners included Madaraka Prestige, North Rift Luxury, Transline, Legacy Luxury, Kina 2015 Classic, Sasaline Classic Shuttle, Blue Line T eam Swat and Transliner Galaxy.

They added that Sakaja’s directive will expose them to huge losses, and will inconvenience long distance travelers who predominantly travel with fairly large luggage, especially during the festive season.
