Content Creator and comedian 2mbili has opened up on a sleeping disorder that he experiences.
Speaking to Iko Nini podcast, the comedian said he experiences sleep paralysis, a condition when one is unable to move or speak when waking up or falling asleep.
2mbili first experienced sleep paralysis when he was young and his family thought he was dead.
“Ishai ni happenia nikiwa mtoi hadi waka conclude nime dedi, so mother alikuwa ananiambia hii ni mwaka yangu ya pili, like ni life yangu ya pili, ya kwanza ilisha isha enda,” he said.
The YouTuber added that he hates the nights when the disorder occurs. Due to that, he prefers to stay awake so that he doesn’t experience paralysis. He further explained that it takes 2-3 minutes to regain normalcy from paralysis. According to him, when one encounters such episodes, he/she wishes that some one could touch him/her to snap them out of it but due to paralysis, they are unable to communicate.
2mbili said that he was forced to open up to his mother about the issue since he worried and didn’t know what to do.
One interviewer from the podcast asked whether someone related to him has suffered from the paralysis, and he said that no one has come out to share so that makes him the only one whose suffered from the disorder.
2mbili concluded that he is not ready to take make the sacrifice of getting enough sleep, which could be the cure to the disorder.
The episodes happens to once in a year. This year, he is yet to experience them.
