Nearly two weeks after actress Bwire Ndubi, popularly known as Dida, was buried, a TikTok user under the name Anita Ndegwa has been receiving unnecessary attention.

This is after she shared a slide show of her beautiful photos and netizens couldn’t help it but notice that she bore a striking resemblance to Bwire. Some actually thought it was the late actress during the days when she was still in good health.

Others suggested that she was related to Bwire and she should make an effort to find out.

There were also some extremely negative comments that pushed Ndegwa to clear the air on the matter at hand.

“In the last couple of days, my TikTok has been flooding with comments and I was not going to address this issue but  I think it is prudent that I do so that we can clear the air. I appreciate anyone who has thought or seen that I look like the late Winnie Bwrire aka Dida. I sympathise with the family, I give them my condolences. I am one person who acknowledges the pain that grief can be having on the family, that is why I did not want to address the issue but for those who have been coming to my DM with a bit of abusive comments, that is inappropriate,” the TikToker said.

Some have accused her of taking advantage of the striking resemblance with Bwire to create content and become famous. Ndegwa however distances herself from that saying she has been in the TikTok space for over three years.

“I love Dida for who she was, I love her personality as a woman, I saw her embracing a blended family setup, I saw how she loved the boys so much and when she was acting, she did it with a lot of grace. She was such a sweet soul. My prayer is for us to honour her memory, we don’t need to make a mountain out of this I am my own person,” she said.

According to her, she is very different from the late Sultana, as she is an interior designer and that she is confident her parents are her biological parents.

“I wish you can approached this with a lot of grace. I have honestly lacked words,” she said. “I am not related to her and I am not looking for fame. This is just me and I have been doing it for the longest time. I just don’t know  how it came out of the blues.”
