The Bomet County Assembly has formed a 5 member ad hoc committee to probe accusations tabled against 3 County Executive Members, CECMs.

The committee consisting of Roselyn Cheptoo, Richard Rutto, Dansen Kirui, Benard Langat and Josephat Kipkirui will table its findings to the assembly.

In a special sitting, the MCAs agreed that the CECs, Erick Ngetich(Roads), Andrew Sigei (Finance) and Kipngetich Kirui (Administration) have questions to answer.

The three who face accusations ranging from incompetence, misuse of office and misappropriation of funds are set to appear before the committee to defend themselves.

Sigor MCA Peter Mutai while moving the motion, pointed out that millions of shillings allocated to various county projects in the previous financial years cannot be accounted for.

“We have lost millions of shillings allocated to various projects. For residents of Bomet to get value for their money, these Executive members must be held accountable,” he said.

Mutai admitted that some Mcas had been compromised, but expressed confidence the CECs will be shown the day.

Wesly Kirui (Kimulot), Daniel Kirui (Ndarawetta) and Stephen Changmorik (Longisa) supported the motion, stating that the assembly has the powers to hire and fire and will play its roles without fear nor favor.

“I support the formation of this committee. Even if this matter will end in the impeachment of the CECs, let it be so. We have many qualified individuals to manage these dockets. The county assembly has the powers to hire and fire and I want to assure residents of Bomet that we will play our roles without fear nor favor,” added Changmorik.
