Body by design, a cosmetic clinic in Nairobi, has released a statement following the death of a businessman Francis Ng’ang’a’s wife Lucy Wambui, that occurred after an alleged botched surgery.
Wambui reportedly died days after undergoing a surgery at the clinic
The cosmetic clinic however said that investigations are underway to establish the cause of the tragedy.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of one of our patients Lucy Wambui under the circumstances that are currently undetermined. We are committed to upholding the highest standards of care and transparency. As such, we have launched a thorough investigation into the events leading up to this tragedy.
“Our team is collaborating closely with relevant authorities to ensure a full and objective review. At Omicare Medical Limited. We understand that this is a challenging time for everyone involved. Out of respect for the family’s privacy and to allow for the investigation to proceed unhindered we are unable to provide further details at the time,” the clinic said.
Meanwhile, the Kenya Medical Practitioners council has shut Body by design indefinitely following the tragedy after finding that the clinic was operating without proper licensing, employing unlicensed practitioners and that the clinic failed to meet required health standards.
On Thursday, Mike Sonko led a group to protest outside the clinic’s offices following’s death.
“There are more than 9 people who have died here, the authorities are silent as well as the police. We want Lucy’s death to be the start of ending of impunity in Nairobi,” Sonko said.
He went on to urge women to embrace and be content with their natural bodies.
“If you want to be treated go to a hospital that has experienced practitioners,” he said
