Peter Blessing

Peter Blessing, a gospel singer who was signed at Bahati’s EMB records several years ago, has left many in shock after it emerged that he is currently working as a watchman.

The artist was  however a watchman before Bahati signed him in his record label in July 2017.  He later quit EMB due to irreconcilable differences, and Bahati dragged him to court in 2019 for defrauding the recording studio a total of Kshs2 million.

Speaking to presenter Ali, Peter said that he was forced to go back to being a watchman after encountering a series of challenges in music.

‘In music, I encountered some challenges and in our country, you can’t go around telling people that you have a problem and begging people for money. So you have to find something to sustain you so that you don’t go hungry and other things will come later,” he said.

Peter Blessing said that it was not easy for him to embrace the job again but he is grateful that he is alive and is surviving. He went ahead ahead to list some of the challenges he encounters as a watchman.

“Right now its about to rain, I am on the night shift, the cold but where I am currently it is better, opening the gate for people, there is a structure I can stay in as I man, initially I used to patrol, I didn’t have a place to stay,” he said.

He also noted that he has never reached out to Bahati or any other management to help him.

“I have never reached out to Bahati’s management. I already passed their, I am not sure if I can look for them,” he said adding that if Bahati contacts him with the aim of helping him, they will talk and reach a consensus.

He is requesting fans to offer him support through prayers and financially so that his music career can pick up again

“I love my career so much. What brought me to Nairobi is music, not this job. I am doing this job hoping that  one day music will take me far. If they can support me to make videos I will be grateful,” Peter Blessing said
