Celebrated media personality Betty Kyallo does not subscribe to the idea of caning as a way of punishing children.
Betty, who spoke to Dr. Ofweneke on parenting said there are better ways of instilling discipline other than beating a child.
According to her she disciplines her daughter by denying her privileges.
“No, don’t beat kids. There is a way I know how to discipline Ivanna. You just deny her some privileges but she is a nice kid. I love her so much and we talk,” an excited Betty said.
She also defined herself as a true African mum. She noted that she is tough on Ivanna compared to her dad Dennis Okari.
“Definitely me. Dennis gives Ivanna everything she wants and I am always like you are going out together, no sweets, no this… Ivanna comes and she is like ‘mum we went and ate there.’ Dennis is the soft one I am the tough one. Ivanna is also tough on me. As a parent, your kids sometimes scare you. Sometimes I ask for a hug and she is like wait. Our young kids are too confident, they have an opinion and feedback,” the former news anchor said.
