Akothee has opened up on her failed marriage with Denis Schweizer, who she had nicknamed Omosh.
The marriage went down the drain barely two months after their grand wedding, leaving Kenyans in utter shock and surprise.
Speaking in an interview at Radio Jambo, the mother of five said Omosh played with her feelings when he hid certain aspects of his health from her, and only opening when they were already in marriage.
“Hata big gee ikiisha utamu unatupa. Ndoa ni mahusiano ya watu wawili, unakutana na mtu, nilimpata akiwa miaka 32. Hujui aendako, hujui atokako, hujui anataka nini. Wewe unataka mapenzi. Hii miaka yangu 40, hatujui jokes. We don’t like jokes, if you are dating a woman in her 40s that is some injury time, don’t joke with us about marriage. Ukisema tu I want…hata kama unasema I want water, tunajua tu I want to marry you, tunakuamini,” she said.
Asked on whether what she meant is that Omosh was a joker, Akothee said that Omosh failed to disclose to her about his health status.
“I can’t say he was a joker. There are things that I came to discover later. They were things I couldn’t live with. He hid from me. The act of him hiding it from me is what hurt me he most. I said if he hid that from me at the moment, how many more things was he going to hide from me? How would I be living. What made me split with him is that he didn’t tell me his inner truth, that he had health challenges, these mental health issues, I wouldn’t say he was mad. He had something like Bipolar. When he told me, I asked him why he didn’t tell me before the wedding, I embarrassed myself before people, global embarrassment,” she said.
On the positive side, Akothee takes the wedding as a rehearsal, and that the real wedding is coming.
“Why should I give up on love? I need to be loved,” she said. “The wedding will be global.”
After breaking up with Omosh, Akothee reunited with her manager Nelly Oaks.
